PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The mission of Worldwide Education Fund of The Dallas Foundation (WEF) is to establish and promote Early Childhood Development Programs in the marginalized communities around the South and Central Asian countries where the educational systems have been unable to nurture such developmental needs of the children under the ages of 6 years.Under Global ECD, WEF has established ECD centres by leveraging relationships with Government and Non-Government Organizations in the areas of intervention.The Global ECD offers a platform where the 3-5 year olds meet in a specially prepared environment containing equipment, furniture, ideas and information geared toward stimulating the children’s optimal development. A fully equipped prepared environment coupled with trained Montessori Teachers allow to promote the child’s Physical, Socio-Emotional and Intellectual developments during his/her formative years. This includes the refinement of senses.
CURRENT IMPACT
ECD Centre Booni, Pakistan is currently impacting 25 children, 3-5 years, by developing their physical, socio-emotional and intellectual developments. The Centre is run by 2 Montessori Certified teachers hired and certified by WEF/FES.This model operates in collaboration with a low-income private school in Chitral Northern Pakistan. The selected school provided a space to WEF/FES for creating an ECD Centre. WEF created fully equipped ECD Centre, first of its kind in the region. The centre was created following the Montessori Method with the help of advisors from USA including Ms. Mali Dhanidina, Ms. Shamim Esmail and Ms. Fariyal Ross-sheriff. Despite the physical distance the team of advisors managed to be present with Team WEF, guiding throughout this process.ECD Play Spaces Bartang, Tajikistan is currently impacting 30 children, 3-5 year, by
providing them with an ideal environment and certified teachers.Global ECD Play Spaces Program in Bartang Tajikistan operates in collaboration with Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) for Tajikistan and Pamir Innovation Hub (PIH). The selected school provide WEF room equipped with the right resources: Toys, teaching aids and technology
