We are part of the Worldwide Education Fund of the Dallas Foundation. Our mission is to equip children in underserved areas of the world with English language skills and life skills that will help them break the cycle of generational poverty, either by continuing their studies or by finding good jobs.

The Global Virtual School (GVS) is an ever-expanding online learning center delivering quality English-language instruction to underprivileged youth and young adults in remote areas of the world. Under the tutelage of the Worldwide Education Fund of The Dallas Foundation, with the help of technology, GVS has grown from one online ESL class (in Tajikistan) into a full-blown online school with dozens of classes and hundreds of students who join our classes at no cost for them. The aim of the school is to offer English-language classes to junior high school students and academic subjects to senior high school students in remote areas in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea, Niger, Cabo Verde and beyond. The Global Virtual School project is unique in that it connects, online and in real time, English-speaking volunteer-teachers with students who are eager to improve their English to pursue post-secondary education, career training and better employment, all of which guarantee an escape from the cycle of generational poverty. All of this is possible thanks to WEF-GVS partners, namely the US State Department’s Office of American Spaces and the University of Central Asia – School of Professional and Continuous Education (UCA-SPCE) and others.

Starting September 18, the new school year finds GVS in 14 countries, 33 centers. For the January session, a few more countries will be joining GVS, each with one or two centers. The  target for this year is very ambitious: teach 2 academic subjects (high school English and Business,) to students ages 15+; teach Advanced Beginner, Low Intermediate, and Intermediate ESL courses to students ages 12+, to prepare them for the high school classes. This year, over 1200 students will benefit from GVS classes. The goal is to grow the program offer along with the number of classes and of participating centers/ countries, to reach over 2,300 learners. The younger students learn ESL (ages 12-15); older students learn high school subjects (15-19). By the year 2025, GVS will have graduated over 5,000 learners with English-language proficiency level High Intermediate or Advanced (CEF B2/C1), including some 2,000 who will have studied at least 1 of the academic subjects: Business, Travel and Tourism, English Literature.

Global Virtual School Program

English for Academic Purpose

The trusted IGCSE curriculum helps students improve their English at an advanced level and get ready for successful careers or for post-secondary education. Students get tested with past papers to ensure thy are on par with peers around the world.

General ESL and Language Lab

The hybrid classroom environment allows students to interact with their teachers online and with peers in class, and thus to practice their speaking skills. Language labs, equipped by GVS, help students in remote areas perfect their listening skills while in school.

Early Childhood Programs

At GVS, we strongly believe that equipping young children with the right learning skills, will influence positively their future. We know that with the right skills, they will grow into independent thinkers and high performers in their chosen careers.
