Location: Khorog, Tajikistan
Status: Implemented
Project Descriptions:
In partnership with the local NGO “Partner+Transfers,” the Worldwide Education Fund of the Dallas Foundation initiated a collaborative effort to enhance the IELTS scores of college-bound students in Khorog town. This project, catering to the unique challenges of the geographically isolated Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), aimed to address the lack of IELTS preparation courses in the area.
Identifying the need for accessible language proficiency programs, the project selected 20 students through an assessment test, conducting classes five days a week in Khorog. The curriculum, designed to provide a comprehensive approach, focused on enhancing skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing for the IELTS exam.
The significance of IELTS (International English Language Testing System) as a gateway to global opportunities cannot be overstated. For students in GBAO, the harsh weather conditions and geographical isolation often restrict access to such courses, typically available only in Dushanbe. This advanced English Language Course not only bridged this gap but also empowered students to prepare for the IELTS exam right at their doorstep, eliminating financial barriers and fostering educational opportunities in the region.
