Project Description:
The Worldwide Education Fund (WEF) in collaboration with Edu-Girls and Vimukti Sanstha embarked on a transformative project aimed at empowering deserving girls from minority communities. With a generous grant of $10,000 from WEF, the initiative focused on providing vocational training scholarships to 26 girls, fostering financial independence and breaking the cycle of generational poverty.
Targeting an average family income of less than Rs 8,350 ($121) per month for families with an average size of 5, Vimukti Sanstha identified courses such as Beautician, Nursery Teachers Training, Apparel Design, etc., tailored to the aptitude of each girl. Through joint counseling and assessment, the selected girls were admitted and supported under these programs, which included not only the training itself but also transportation assistance.
The overarching vision of the project is to equip these girls with essential skill sets, enabling them to thrive in their chosen fields and secure a respectable source of income. Beyond the immediate impact on the individuals involved, the initiative aspires to create a ripple effect, ensuring that these girls become valuable contributors to the workforce, thereby uplifting themselves and their communities.
