PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The ‘Anwar Mandani Rising Stars Educational and Residential Scholarship at Aga Khan Lycee School’ envisions to provide quality education to the students from marginalized communities living in the mountainous regions of Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous regions in Tajikistan.Each year, students are selected based on thorough examinations of their applications. The scholarship covers the tuition fees, accommodation, meals and other necessary provisions. It also makes sure that the students selected under this program are taken care of and be provided with an environment where they could thrive personally and academically.
CURRENT IMPACT
Worldwide Education Fund of the Dallas Foundation (WEF), USA signed an MoU with Aga Khan Lycee School (AKL)Tajikistan and Pamir Innovation Hub (PIH) to start the Anwar Mandani Rising Stars Educational and Residential Scholarship Program. 24 students from all over the GBAO have been selected and provided with fully funded scholarships.

The Aga Khan Lycée (AKL) in Khorog, was established on the premises of the former School #3 (named after Kirov), a school with a distinguished history in Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO).AKL has been implementing diverse educational programming since 2017 to improve school facilities and curriculum delivery and create safe and conducive learning environments for students to learn and develop. Collaboration with the Aga Khan Education Boards in the UK, USA and Canada, and the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board in Canada enables for sharing of diverse expertise, thereby providing professional development opportunities for AKL teachers.
