Literacy Program at St. Placid’s School, Chittagong, Bangladesh

Location: Chittagong, Bangladesh

Status: Active

Project Description:

The main goal of the Literacy Program is to educate individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to break the cycle of generational poverty. Three organizations with shared values have come together to champion this initiative: the Old Placidian Association (OPA), the Foundation to Support Education Worldwide (FSEW) based in the USA, and the Worldwide Education Fund of The Dallas Foundation (WEF), also based in the USA.

Through a collaborative agreement, WEF, FSEW, and OPA are joining forces to enrich the Literacy Program. This partnership involves providing advisory services and the necessary funding to expand the current program, aiming to make a significant impact on the educational opportunities available to individuals from underprivileged families.

Current Impact:

Presently, the Old Placidian Association (OPA) oversees a Literacy Program for 250 underserved boys in Chittagong, Bangladesh, up to the 5th grade. There is a recognized necessity to extend the program’s reach, expanding it from the 5th standard to the 10th standard.
